patient at wandered off. the deputy in charge did not consider this a missing persons case. information was not passed on to the next deputy on shift. then the sheriff said hospital staff misidentified spaldi ng, who is white first as african-american and then as asian and hospital logs. when a deputy want to look at security footage the cameras did not work. finally, an unidentified man saw a body in the stairwell and told a staff member. the deputies did nothing about it. the attorney for spalding's to children does not believe authority's did much to try and find her. spalding's body was found in the stairwell last month, two weeks after she went missing from her hospital room and tantrums as the general hospital.

a lot of slow traffic and the bay area. all of this pretty much started more than likely from a fatal accident on westbound 580. extended drive times this morning. speed in the red which as you can say indicates 25 mi. per hour or less. we also have another big issue which is south found 880 on laden boulevard. the crash does clear but the back of not cleared at all. the drive time up to 50 minutes from oakland coliseum all the way down towards 238 and get a the other accident. in fact

dozens of police officers are being put out on patrol to reduce response time for emergency calls. the program is known as flex card staffing. it involves 78 officers within the police department. each officer is required to work 110 hour day a month in a patrol car over the next three months. they still need to take care of their regular workload as well. san jose police made more officers on patrol as the department continues to experience the patients in its ranks. >>darya: now take a look at this. californians from san diego to santa barbara reported seeing a fireball streak across the sky last night. this is video from you too. the national weather service says the studies are most likely linked to the south taurids media rush hour that has been especially active this month. --meteor shower.

>>james: now to the south of they were a school police are investigating a report of an alleged sexual assault. the student told authorities she was attacked in a bathroom on campus. kron4's terisa estacio reports now police have launched an investigation. >>terisa: the alleged assault took place here at the hands of community college in cupertino a woman said she had got sexually assaulted inside a bathroom stall at the media and learning center. this alleged assault took place this past monday between the hours of 1 and 2. we are reaching out to the danza police department to see if they have in a surveillance video. we will be continuing to follow the story throughout the morning on the kron4 morning news but for now and cupertino, terisa estacio kron4 knows.

58 year-old anna maria lopez of gilroy was arrested about 8:00 monday morning and charged with one count of felony child endangerment. parents dropping off their children at the epa walsh child development center told police that lopez was not responsive and is oriented. officials say lopez's blood alcohol level was four times the legal limit to drive. >>: our records indicate she was four times the legal limit. >>darya: lopez as reported by parents had trouble speaking and fumbled with her keys as she tried to open the doors to the center. police are still investigating whether she drove herself to work monday morning. >>james: police and menlo park on the question a witness from that truck traffic accident that killed a man and his wife. kamal and balbir singh for out walking their dog last month when they were hit from

behind. here's video from the scene. investigators are looking for a white male who was driving a white ford explorer that night,. police believe he may have seen the entire thing happened. the woman believed to cause the crash is marjorie reitzell of redwood city. police say she was driving drunk when she hit the couple and their ran her vehicle into another car full of teenagers before striking a tree. reitzell is expected to enter a plea today. >>darya: 8 dramatic spike in car thefts and san leandro. police say in the past week close to two dozen cars have been reported stolen. overall from year to year, police say car thefts are down. but in the past seven days, 21 cars have been reported stolen in san leandro. the most popular

model cars that these are targeting policemen are honda civics and honda accords. police said thieves may feel more comfortable with honda's ignition system leading to one reason they are often targeted. so far, seven arrests have been made this week in connection with some of the desperate >>james: community members are rallying around a high school senior who was badly burned as he slept in the back of a a.c. transit. the victim is 18 at year-old luke " sasha " fleischman who attends berkeley's maybeck high school. the team suffered severe second and third degree burns and the fire and will need several surgeries. hundreds of supporters have raised more than the $21,000 to help with medical costs. police say a 16 year-old boy with fleischmann of fire as he slept for the rear of a bus. passenger saw the fire and alerted the driver. who stopped the bus to call for help as the suspect fled fleischman was taken to the burn center at st. francis memorial hospital in san francisco where he was listed in stable condition.

we are getting more information about the san francisco sheriff's department puts surged for-- search for lynne spal ding. the trouble started when deputies got a report patients have wandered off. the deputy in charge did not consider this a missing persons case bridge and information was not passed on to the next deputy on

of police officers are being put out on patrol to reduce response time for emergency calls for it the program is known as flex our staffing. it involves 78 officers within the police department.each officer is required to work 110 hour day a month in a patrol car over the next three months. they still need to take care of their regular workload as well. san jose police need more officers on patrol as the department continues to experience the patients in its ranks. i showed you this lady who had two outstanding warrants to one was a felony for dangerous drugs and the other a misdemeanor warrants for thefts. both bail amounts for $5,000 each totaling $10,000. even when the warrants they also found a crack pipe into it
